September 16, 2008: Our first commercial release of Sauvignon Blanc is bottled! Our 2007 Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc has an expected release date of November 1, 2008, and we look forward to positive feedback from our friends. True to its varietal's characterists, it is composed of 100% Sauvignon Blanc and was fermented entirely in stainless steel containers. Furthermore, it did not undergo malolactic fermentation thus avoiding the buttery mouthfeel and butterscotch overtones that can easily overwhelm a fine white wine. A typical example of the finest Sauvignon Blancs from the central Napa Valley--areas like Oakville and Yountville--it has citrus flavors coupled with melon and perhaps figs, but not overwhelming lime or lemon brightness. The body is light but complex at the same time, and evolves during the drinking experience. We see it pairing very well with seafood salads, crab cakes, and asian sauces, but we look forward to feedback from our friends.

June 14, 2008: Has it been one year already?! We are going to have a booth at the Dia de Portugal event in San Jose on June 14, 2008. More details at the Dia de Portugal website. Come by to say hello, try some of our wines and, of course, enjoy a healthy dose of Portuguese culture!

June 9, 2007:Once again, Morey Cellars is very pleased to participate in Dia de Portugal, the "Day of Portugal" celebration in San Jose's Kelly Park on Saturday, June 9, 2007. We will have a booth with a number of giveaways and look forward to seeing our old friends and making new ones. More details can be found at Dia de Portugal.

February 1, 2007:With a limit of 200 cases per year, we hope that our friends can understand that we are focusing on the fine restaurants that already carry our wines. Of course, then we come across fine establishments such as Cafe Hidalgo in Fullerton, California, that have wonderful fare and exquisite taste for wine and are happy to be carried by them. If you are ever in Fullerton, California, which is in Orange County, you must make Cafe Hidalgo one of your gastronomic stops and, of course, try some wine...

September 27, 2006:Morey Cellars is very pleased to have our 2002 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon at JV Wine & Spirits in Napa. JV Wine is an excellent, local retail establishment with literally hundreds of wonderful and hard-to-find wines and spirits. With three someliers on staff, we have enjoyed being their customers for years and are now proud to find our wines among their fine selections. Check out their selections, purchase online, stop by the tasting bar, and even join their wine club. In business since 1947, they truly are where the Napa Valley shops for wine.

June 21, 2006: The Association of Women In Technology in Orange County, California, is holding its Fifth Annual Wine Tasting and Silent Auction, and Morey Cellars is very pleased to provide the wine! Joining forces with the Bacchus Society, AWT is raising money for its Charitable Foundation and Scholarship Program. In addition to our own wine, we will also be pouring wines from Sosabe Cellars and Tedeschi Family Winery, a couple friends of ours who also produce fine Napa Valley wines. This is for members only; more details at the AWT website.

May 26, 2006: We got gold! We are very pleased that our 2002 vintage won a gold medal at the Lone Star International Wine Competition in Texas this month. We were the only limited production (200 cases or fewer) Cabernet Sauvignon to win a gold medal. Although we do not typically enter competitions, a good friend and customer of ours in Texas insisted that we compete, and he was right! More details can be found on the Texas Wine and Grape Growers Association website.

March 19, 2006: Morey Cellars will be pouring our 2002 vintage at the Orange County Wine Society's Extraordinaire event on Sunday, April 2, at the Anaheim Hilton from 2:00 - 5:00pm. Some 200 small wineries will be there as well. Sign up online in advance for a cheaper rate. We look forward to seeing our friends again, both old and new!

December 1, 2005: Our 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon is officially released! After 27 months in barrel and 6 months in bottle, this wine follows the footsteps of its predecessor: elegant and refined, drinkable now and worthy of long-term cellaring. Pair it with veal, roast duck, even salmon with a red wine reduction, and molten chocolate cake (one of our favorites!). Please check out our online shop for ordering details.

November 15, 2005: Our winemaker, Robert Morey, joined Jon Mortimer once again on his weekly show about food and wine, Radio Cafe, this time to talk about wine corks and the closure industry. You can listen to the interview here or by going to the Mortimer Guest page and searching for Robert Morey in the Winemaker/Owner section of the list (7Mb).

October 9, 2005: This harvest found us so busy that we barely had a chance to update our website! Rest assured, however, that we have not forgotten our loyal friends and fellow wine lovers. With our feet burgundy in color and being filmed by the BBC for an upcoming documentary, we are very pleased to announce that we will be pouring both our 2000 and our 2002 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon at the fourth annual Santa Clara de Asis Church Fall Wine Classic which will take place at the Richard Nixon Library in Yorba Linda, Orange County, California, on October 23, from 2:00 to 5:00pm. Please join us in this worthy fundraiser--more details at Local Wine Events. Between now and then, we will be working on our Cabernet Sauvignon from the red hot Spring Mountain Road in St. Helena!

July 27, 2005: We love Idaho! And fine establishments in this fine state seem to love us as well! We are pleased that the following establishments have decided to carry our 2000 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon: BanBury Golf Club, 45th Parallel at MeadowCreek Golf Resort, Whitetail Club, Boise Co-Op, Ridley's Family Market in Boise, and Epicurean Restaurant at the Hotel McCall. Along with Mortimer's in Boise and Bistro 45 in McCall, we are very pleased to have found such a warm welcome in Idaho and look forward to many years of a great relationship.

June 23, 2005: We are very pleased to find our wine at the Bistro 45 Wine Bar in McCall, Idaho. Bistro 45 has that nice ambiance where one can relax, play chess or chat with friends, and have a nice glass or three of wine. Make sure you stop by when you are in the area.

May 10, 2005: One of the very unique attractions in the Napa Valley is the Wine Train. Morey Cellars is now on their wine list and we are pleased to be among such a nice collection of our peers.

April 15, 2005: Walking into Mortimer's restaurant in Boise, Idaho, is like walking into a Wine Spectator dining experience. The restaurant, run by Shara and Jon Mortimer, is a class act and features an amazing menu complemented by a great selection of fine wines. We are very pleased that our 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon is now part of that great wine list. Jon hosts a weekly radio show called "Radio Cafe" and we were pleased that our winemaker, Robert Morey, was invited to participate and talk about our history and winemaking in the Napa Valley in general.

April 5, 2005: Up until now, we had shied away from retail shops because we were concerned that they would not take the time to talk about us and our wine to their customers. Then we discovered Dan Dawson at Back Room Wines. Located in the heart of the city of Napa, Dan knows his wines exceedingly well, has a great collection, and, more importantly, takes the time to understand and speak with him trusting customers. He liked our 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon and we are very pleased that he agreed to carry it at his store. Check out his website for on-going events such as tastings and food pairings. And tell him we sent you!

February 26, 2005: Napa has great wines and great restaurants to go along with them. One such restaurant is Cole's Chop House, owned by Greg Cole who also owns Celadon, and we are very, very pleased to be on its wine list. Looking for great steaks and wine? Check out Cole's Chop House in Napa and look for Morey Cellars on the wine list.

February 14, 2005: Perhaps we are biased but, to us, nothing spells L-O-V-E more than being the featured wine for Valentine's dinner. The Inn of the Seventh Ray is featuring Morey Cellars' 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon for their Valentine's dinner and we are very pleased to hear that. Paired with a wonderful menu specially prepared by Executive Chef Robert Lia, we are sure that this is going to be a memorable event.

February 5, 2005: The UCLA Anderson Alumni Association, Orange County Chapter, and Morey Cellars are pleased to announce an evening of art collecting and wine tasting at the Orange County Museum of Art on Thursday, February 10, from 5:30 to 8:30pm. More details can be found on the Alumni Association's website.

December 12, 2004: We are very pleased to be on the wine list at Fora in Long Beach. It's a wonderful restaurant that has a great wine list and we are privileged to be amongst such great company. They are also carrying our friends' Sosabe Cellars Chardonnay. Check them out at 5730 E. Second Street, Long Beach, CA 90803, 562-856-9494.

November 20, 2004:The Morey Cellars online store is up. It features our wine as well as a number of other items that we believe our customers and friends are interested in. Sourced directly from the providers, we have found such items as the Sioux-Z-Wow marinade sauce, the Drop Stop, and the Aroma Wheel to be wonderful tools for the wine connoisseur. Please take a look and see if you want to buy anything online. We are using PayPal which allows for immediate payment from credit cards and checking accounts. Give it a whirl and let us know what you think!

November 12, 2004: Morey Cellars is pleased to be the featured winery at the happy hour of the University Club, on the UC Irvine campus, on Friday, November 12, from 4:30pm to 7:00pm. Open to the public and very well attended, this will be a great opportunity to sample our wines and to meet the winemaker. Orange County has been such a great supporter of Morey Cellars that we feel as though this is a homecoming!

October 4, 2004: An absolutely wonderful time was had by all who attended the Winemaker Dinner and Cooking Demonstration at Yves' Bistro, in Anaheim Hills, Orange County, on October 4. Yves Masquefa showed everyone the tricks and techniques of cooking while Robert Morey talked about the wines. Morey Cellars was very pleased to both help pair the wines with the courses, and to complement the wonderful stuffed veal chop with our 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon. We look forward to our next event!

September 1, 2004: Perhaps the best articulation of our 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon was written by Eric Anderson of Grape-Nutz.com. Check out his great review at this link. Thanks, Eric!

August 31, 2004: We are pleased to announce that Robert Morey will be attending a cooking class and wine demonstration at Yves' Bistro in Anaheim Hills on Monday, October 4, 2004, at 6:30pm. We helped pair the fine menu that Executive Chef Donald da Silva will prepare with some fine wines, including our Morey Cellars 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon. Coconut prawns, butter lettuce salad with a creamy Gorgonzola dressing, stuffed veal chop with wild mushrooms, and a chocolate rum moulton cake, along with all the fine wines, will certainly make for a merry and instructional evening. Please send Yves an email or check out Local Wine Events for more details. We'll see you there!

June 27, 2004: Yves' Bistro in Anaheim Hills has quickly become one of our favorite haunts... Located conveniently off the 91 freeway, it has a warm, welcoming atmosphere with lots of quietly-chattering couples engaged in their food and wine. Yves Masquefa, the owner, prides himself on his wine list and we must agree--he has quite a few little-known treasures there. Not only can you drink the wine at the restaurant, you can take a bottle (or a case!) home with you. The food is equally exquisite and draws on his experience from several countries--try it and you will see. We are extremely pleased to be the "Wine Of The Month" for July at Yves' Bistro and look forward to many years of working with Yves!

June 27, 2004: David Vergari, winemaker for such labels as Sierra Madre Vineyards and Newport Beach Winery, is teaching a wine appreciation course at UC Irvine Extension during the summer of 2004, and we are very pleased to be included on his roster of wines. As he analyzes the wines of California, he will spend some time on the Napa Valley and, as a student in this class, you will be able to taste our 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon as the kind of wine that we can produce over here. Click here for the direct link. Sounds like a great class!

May 22, 2004: We are very pleased to be added to the wine list of a great, little-known secret of a restaurant in Irvine: Britta's Cafe. The owner and mastermind is Britta Pulliam and has managed to put together an amazingly-sophisticated restaurant right across the street from UC Irvine. With the feel of a quiet, romantic, European restaurant, the food and wine are amazing deals. Try our Morey Cellars 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon with the lamb--you will not regret it! Guaranteed! And don't forget to ask that the chef come by your table so that you can tell her just how great it was...

April 30, 2004: On Friday, April 30, 2004, Morey Cellars will be pouring our wine at the Night In Fullerton event in Fullerton, Orange County, California. We are pleased, once again, to be associated with the West End Gallery on 109 N. Harbor Blvd and look forward to meeting both art and wine patrons and afficionados. We made an amazing number of friends last time and look forward to meeting both them and new friends this time. Please join us any time after 5:00pm. We'll have a glass, and perhaps a cigar, waiting for you!

April 24, 2004: Sort of a homecoming, we are thrilled to be on the wine list at the prestigious University Club at the University of California, Irvine! Our winemaker, Robert Morey, graduated from UCI in 1988 with, believe it or not, a BS degree in Information and Computer Science...! Though a far cry from what he is doing now, a lot of the methodology, research, and passion for understanding how 'things' work contributed to his education in winemaking. UCI continues to be a highly respected institution in theoretical computer science and we are pleased to be associated with this higher education university.

February 27, 2004: Morey Cellars is very pleased to be part of the wine rosters of two great Southern California restaurants. Both the Inn of the 7th Ray in Topanga and the Black Sheep Bistro in Tustin, Orange County. The Inn of the 7th Ray is known as a romantic hot spot while the Black Sheep Bistro specializes in Catalonian and other Mediterranean cuisines. Both are musts if you are looking for great restaurants (with great tastes in wine!).

February 7, 2004: Our winemaker, along with members of the Morey team, poured our 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon to over 50 patrons (friends!) at the West End Gallery in Fullerton on Saturday, February 7. The West End Gallery presents a whole range of established, as well as up-and-coming, artists. Also featured are student artists from Cal State Fullerton. This month, the West End Gallery presented a showcase of local artists. The address is 109 N. Harbor Blvd., Fullerton, California. Call 714-447-9378 for more information or check it out online. Thank you to all who came to meet us, try some great wine, and enjoy some thought-provoking art!

January 31, 2004: Wine Spectator magazine reviewed our wine and published its rating in the January 31, 2004, issue. A score of 83 for an inaugural vintage is quite good, actually, and we are pleased that they even looked at us, something that apparently happens quite infrequently. Just wait until they try our 2002 vintage next year! B-)

January 15, 2004: We find ourselves now in Southern California! We are very pleased to be on the wine list at The Hobbit restaurant in Orange County, in the city of Orange. With a great following and an amazing wine list, we are truly honored that they are carrying us. The menu has features that make your mouth water--Cote de boeuf with braised leeks, garlic crusted rack of lamb, veal cordon bleu, and so on--and a wine list to complement the great fare. If you are in the area, we highly encourage you to check it out!
